Crane-Assisted Lifting
Precision lifting where a mobile crane can’t fit. Boom reach, full extension, contract-lift management as standard.

Crane-Assisted Lifting — Lift & Place Service
Crane-assisted lifting is what we do when a job needs more than a straight unload — the load has to be positioned precisely, craned over an obstacle, or placed on a prepared base. Our HIAB-mounted lorries combine transport and lifting in one machine, so you get delivery and placement from a single contractor on a single day.
What crane-assisted lifting covers
- Lifting loads over houses, walls and garages — typical on residential hot tub and boat placements.
- Placing containers, cabins and portacabins onto prepared bases or stacks.
- Positioning machinery, plant and fabrications into tight industrial spaces.
- Lifting loads off flat-bed trailers when a forklift won’t reach.
- Setting generators, transformers and distribution units onto platforms.
When you need crane-assisted lifting rather than a straight HIAB delivery
If the load just needs dropping off the back of a truck, a standard delivery is fine. Crane-assisted lifting is for jobs where positioning matters — the load has to end up in a specific spot that isn’t reachable from the kerb. Common triggers are restricted access, a base that needs preparing, obstacles between the truck and the drop-point, or residential settings where we’re craning over a house.
If you were searching for crane hire
We aren’t a standalone mobile crane hire company. What we do is deliver your load and lift it into place in one visit, with a lorry-mounted HIAB — often faster and cheaper than booking a crane and a haulier separately. If the lift genuinely needs a large mobile crane, we’ll tell you straight and, where the job warrants it, step you up to a fully managed contract lift.
Common questions
What’s the difference between crane hire and crane-assisted lifting?
Crane hire usually means a standalone mobile crane with operator, turning up to lift something that’s already on site. Crane-assisted lifting means we transport the load to site and lift it into place using the crane mounted on our lorry. One contractor, one visit.
Can a HIAB lift in a tight space?
Often yes — that’s the whole point. Lorry-mounted loader cranes are built to work in yards, drives, car parks and urban streets where a big mobile crane won’t fit. Before we commit we’ll ask about access, overheads and ground conditions to make sure the right truck comes.
Do you come and survey the site first?
For anything non-standard, yes. A short pre-lift site visit — or a video walk-through — saves a wasted trip and lets us pick the right truck and plan the lift properly. For jobs booked as a contract lift a site survey is included as standard.
Is the lift insured?
Yes. We carry full operating and goods-in-transit insurance. For jobs over a certain value or with unusual risk we’ll discuss cover specifics as part of the quote.
