Hot Tub & Swim Spa Lifting — Crane Over Houses, Walls & Garages
Most hot tubs won’t fit through a standard back gate. If the only way into your garden is over the roof of your house, through a neighbour’s drive or over a boundary wall, you need a HIAB. AC Lifting specialises in residential hot tub and swim spa lifts — we turn up with the right-sized truck, crane the tub safely over the obstacle and set it down on its prepared base in one visit.
What’s involved in a hot tub crane lift
- Site visit or video survey — access, overhead cables, ground conditions, neighbouring property.
- Right-size HIAB selected based on tub weight and reach required.
- Street or drive coned off while the lift is in progress.
- Tub craned over the obstacle and placed onto your prepared base.
- Fully insured lift, ALLMI-accredited operator.
What you need to prepare
- A level, load-rated base ready before we arrive — concrete pad, reinforced paving slabs or decking rated to the tub’s filled weight.
- Clear space on the street or drive for the HIAB to set up and deploy outriggers.
- Photos and measurements shared beforehand so we bring the right truck.
- If we’re lifting over a neighbour’s property, a friendly heads-up from you in advance.

Common questions
How much does it cost to crane a hot tub over a house?
Price depends on truck size, distance from our base, time on site and whether a road closure is needed. Shorter-distance lifts are often achievable for less than people expect. We always quote on the specifics of your address and tub.
Do you need planning permission for a hot tub crane lift?
No. The lift itself doesn’t need planning permission. What you may need, depending on your council and the road width, is a temporary road closure or a licence to suspend parking bays. We advise on this once we know the address.
Can you lift a swim spa?
Yes. Swim spas are heavier and longer than hot tubs — usually needing a bigger HIAB or additional reach — but the principle is the same. Send us the make, model and dimensions and we’ll confirm which truck suits.
What if the weather is bad on the day?
High winds are the main reason to postpone. We check the forecast on the morning of the lift and reschedule if conditions would make the lift unsafe. Your deposit or booking rolls over to the new date.
