HIAB Services for Utilities & Infrastructure

AC Lifting supports utility network operators, infrastructure contractors and DNO (Distribution Network Operator) work UK-wide with HIAB transport, equipment placement and lift-assist services.

What we handle

  • GRP kiosk transport and installation — DNO substations, water control kiosks, telecoms enclosures
  • Substation equipment drops — transformers, switchgear cabinets, control modules
  • Cable drums and drum placement at jointing locations
  • Temporary generator and welfare drops for planned outage works
  • Network equipment swap-outs — replace old, remove old
  • Plant and equipment support for streetworks teams

Who this fits

DNOs, tier 1 utility contractors, streetworks teams, telecoms infrastructure providers and any DNO contractor — particularly across the North West. Existing DNO experience including Electricity North West — we understand the paperwork and site discipline these jobs require.

Why utilities trust us

  • ALLMI-trained operators comfortable inside live substation compounds under supervision.
  • LOLER-certified gear with paperwork ready for audit.
  • Contract lift capability where the network operator requires AP oversight.
  • Fastest mobilisation across the North West — short lead times for utility incident response.

We work with Electricity North West, the DNO for the North West, on HIAB-supported equipment drops and substation work.

Frequently asked questions

Under the network operator’s permit-to-work and with their authorised supervisor on site — yes. We follow the site rules and the appointed safety supervisor’s direction.

Do you hold SHEA or other network-specific tickets?

Operator-specific tickets vary by network and by job — tell us what’s required and we’ll confirm current qualifications at quote stage.

Can you run planned outage work out of hours?
