Container & Site Cabin Transport & Lifting

Containers, portacabins and modular buildings transported and placed where standard cranes can’t reach.

Two AC Lifting HIAB trucks travelling in convoy en route to a job.

Container & Site Cabin Transport & Lifting

AC Lifting moves and places shipping containers, anti-vandal site cabins and portacabins UK-wide. Our HIAB-mounted lorries load, transport and set down in one visit — no separate crane, no second haulier, no choreography.

What we move

  • 10ft, 20ft and 40ft ISO shipping containers (standard and high-cube)
  • Anti-vandal steel site cabins and welfare units
  • Portacabin-style modular office and canteen units
  • Storage containers, tool stores and plant containers
  • Container conversions (offices, shops, pop-ups) — handled with extra care

Where we place them

Construction sites, event compounds, school and hospital grounds, domestic gardens, industrial yards, farms, boatyards. Tight access, first-floor roof decks, over-wall placements — if the reach and weight fit our fleet, we’ll plan it. If they don’t, we’ll say so before we quote.

Why HIAB for containers

  • One truck, one crew — delivery and lift in a single visit.
  • Reach over obstacles — fences, walls, parked vehicles, extensions.
  • Lower cost than booking a separate haulier and mobile crane.
  • Fast turnaround — often same-week, same-day where we have availability.

If you were searching for crane hire

AC Lifting isn’t a standalone mobile crane hire company — we operate HIAB-mounted lorries (lorry-loader cranes) and deliver crane-assisted lifting as part of a managed transport and lift service. For most jobs that people describe as “crane hire” — moving a container, placing a cabin, lifting a generator or plant over a fence — a HIAB is faster, cheaper and doesn’t need a separate haulier. If that sounds like your job, you’re in the right place. If you genuinely need a standalone slew crane on hire, we’ll tell you straight and point you at a trusted partner.

Frequently asked questions

Can you lift a 40ft container over a house?

Often yes, depending on weight, reach and ground conditions on the truck side. Send us a site photo or drop pin and we’ll tell you before you commit. We do over-house lifts regularly — hot tubs, cabins and smaller containers — but 40ft full containers are heavy and reach is the limiting factor.

What weight can your HIAB lift?

Our fleet covers a range of tonne/metre capacities. Lift capacity depends on the reach required — a 22 tonne/metre truck lifts more weight at short reach than at full extension. Tell us the container size, where it’s picked up and where it’s going and we’ll spec the right truck.

Do I need to empty the container first?

Yes in most cases. Containers are rated for full-load weight, but the combined weight plus reach often exceeds what a HIAB can lift safely. If it’s lightly loaded and we know the contents, we can often lift loaded — confirm with us at quote stage.

Do you supply the container too?

No — we’re a transport and lifting specialist, not a container supplier. We work alongside the UK’s main container and cabin hire firms and can quote for delivery alongside your order from any supplier.
